Good key management saves time when tenants, cleaners and agents need access. Keep a record of which keys belong to each property, who holds them and when they were returned. It also helps to know whether a tenant’s key opens only their own door or any shared entrance.
For some buildings, locks keyed alike can reduce the number of keys an authorised person carries. More involved key systems, including master key systems or master key suites, require planning for each person’s access, key replacement, and what happens if a key is lost. One master key does not automatically open every door in a whole portfolio, and a system should not be ordered on that assumption. Tell us how the building is used, and we can discuss practical options before any lock changes are agreed upon.
